The remark sparked intense backlash on social media and even led to a police complaint against the youtube influencer.  

The controversy deepened as users discovered that the joke in question was allegedly plagiarised from a show.  

“Ranveer Allahbadia knew exactly what he was saying—it was a scripted skit lifted from another show! This wasn’t an accident or a slip of the tongue.   Don’t accept his apology, because this was no mistake!” one outraged user posted.
